Sloe Gin has been a firm Christmas favourite for many, many years. Its history begins in the 17^th century, in rural England. Foragers would scour the hedgerows for the deep purple sloe berries – a berry closely related to the plum. The spread of the sloe berries encouraged families to concoct their own recipes but all began with infusing the sloe berries in gin. The popularity of Sloe Gin and its use in cocktails did not rise until the 20^th century.

With delectable flavours on the inside of the bottle, the outside of the bottle is quite spectacular too.

Surrounding the glass bottle is a pale purple label featuring a wonderfully illustrated design. Wrapped round the bottle are illustrated garlands of deep purple, plump sloe berries and the white floral blackthorn trees on which the sloe berries grow. To serve two, you will need:

60ml Sloe Gin

118ml Prosecco

Soda water

Splash of lemon juice

A sprig of rosemary to garnish with.

To make, pour the sloe gin into a glass, and pour in the prosseco. Then top up with the soda water. Add the lemon juice. Finally, add a sprig of fresh rosemary to add a little garnish to your drink.
