Description
A testament to exceptional craftsmanship, this pair of Prestige Vases is the latest addition to the Royal Collection Trust's exclusive Prestige Collection. Limited to just two pieces, these vases are not only rare but embody the pinnacle of British ceramic artistry.
Inspired by the magnificent 18th-century vases in the Royal Collection, these Prestige Vases have taken over 12 months to perfect. The shape pays homage to the renowned European porcelain manufacturers of the period, with each vase meticulously handcrafted in Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of England's pottery tradition. Using techniques that have remained largely unchanged for 300 years, skilled craftsmen have painstakingly created these vases, each comprising 22 individually hand-cast components made from the finest English bone china.
Presented in a handmade presentation box and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, these vases are modern-day museum pieces, exemplifying the highest standards of British craftsmanship. Whether displayed as a centrepiece or treasured as a work of art, these vases are a rare and exclusive addition to any collection, representing the ultimate in luxury and refinement.
The process of making these vases begins with the careful hand-casting of the vase’s main body, handles, lid, foot, and pedestal, all of which are assembled piece by piece. Following a rigorous biscuit firing, the vase is hand-glazed and fired again at 1100°C to achieve the stunning white translucency that defines the finest English bone china.
Once glazed, the vase undergoes an intricate process of decoration, beginning with the application of raised paste and gilding. Under the expert hand of paste artist Mark Titley, several layers of gold ornamentation are meticulously built up, each requiring a separate firing. The use of 40% best burnished gold and 22-carat gold flakes adds depth and contrast, resulting in a rich, lustrous finish. In total, more than 20 separate firings are required to achieve the exquisite final product.
