Description
In March 1855, Roger Fenton, a former solicitor and founding member of what is now known as the Royal Photographic Society, travelled to the war-torn Crimea to capture the brutality of war through the medium of photography.
The Royal Collection holds the most significant collection of Fenton's work in the world, featuring around 350 of his photographs documenting the Crimean conflict. This new publication brings together these remarkable images, highlighting the profound impact they had on those back in Britain, who were seeing the realities of war documented in pictures for the first time.
